In order to create a positive and enjoyable soccer experience for everyone involved, we are asking all parents and players to adhere to the following Code of Conduct. By participating in our league, you agree to uphold these principles and contribute to a safe and respectful environment. Failure to adhere to the Code of Conduct may result in removal during practices and/or games. Parents or players may be removed at the discretion of the referee or coach at any time.
All players must have a parent submit a
acknowledgement prior to the first practice.
For Parents:
- Positive Support: I will encourage and support all players, including those on the opposing teams. I will cheer for good plays and show respect for the efforts of all participants. I understand this is a game for children, not adults.
- Respect Coaches Decisions: I will not coach my child or any other player during a game. If I do not agree with a coaching decision, I will refrain from vocalizing my dissatisfaction in an effort to promote and reinforce the positive and enjoyable soccer experience envisioned by the SVYS Mission Statement.
- Respect for Officials: I will respect the decisions made by referees and other league officials. I understand that they are doing their best to ensure fair play and a safe environment. While certain calls can be questionable in nature, I understand the referee has ultimate decision making.
- Fair Play: I will emphasize the importance of fair play and good sportsmanship to my child. I will encourage them to play by the rules and to treat opponents, teammates, coaches, and officials with respect.
- Sideline Conduct: I will maintain a positive and respectful demeanor on the sidelines. I will avoid any negative comments or actions that could contribute to an unsportsmanlike atmosphere.
- Opposing Teams: I will maintain a positive and respectful demeanor for my child and my child’s team when cheering. I will not engage in negative comments or actions towards opposing players, coaches, or parents that could contribute to an unsportsmanlike atmosphere.
- Player Development: I will focus on the development and enjoyment of the players rather than just the outcome of the game. I recognize and appreciate progress and effort, regardless of the score.
- Communication: I will communicate with coaches and league organizers in a respectful and constructive manner. I will address concerns through proper channels rather than engaging in confrontations.
- Facility Respect: I will respect the facilities where games and practices take place, clean up after games and encourage my child to do the same.
- Recognize: I recognize that soccer is a physical sport and player contact is part of the game. I will keep my emotions in check and trust the referees and coaches to do their best in managing the game fairly.
